About the program:

The Nelsonville-York Drama Club is one of our longest running, and highest accomplished, programs at Stuart’s Opera House. For almost a full decade, Stuarts has hosted and fully sponsored the Drama Club through our Arts Education Department. This unique collaboration came to be because of lack of funding and opportunity at the city-school level, leaving a major void to be filled for performing arts education in our region.

The Drama Club has both performance and non-performance based goals in the theatrical arts, exploring both on and off-stage curriculum. Our students get the opportunity to work with local, regional, and nationally accredited teaching artists, gaining a unique perspective into the professional side of the art.

Because of their growth and dedication to theater education, we have activated a troupe within the International Thespian Society, Troupe 10484. The Thespian Society is essentially the National Honors Society for students in the theater arts. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to gain national recognition for their program on their talents.
