Beginning today (Thursday, Nov. 1) and running through Sunday, Nov. 4, Stuart’s Opera House will host performances of “Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe,” written by Eric Coble and directed by Miranda Miller of the ABC Players.

The play runs at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

The production reveals Poe, played by Terrence Smith, standing alone in the darkness of his mind, trying to convince himself he’s not mad. According to a news release, Poe’s inner turmoil leads the audience into a story of Poe’s life featuring some of his best-known tales, “The Raven,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Pit and the Pendulum” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Narrator Gary Hillyer brings characters such as Roderick and Madeline Usher, The Raven and the Old Man of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” to life, the release said.

Sponsored in part by Amethyst & Ivy in Lancaster, “Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe” will leap into the minds of everyone, madman or not, the release said.
