Stuart’s Opera House, with support from The Nelsonville Rotary and Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce, is excited to invite the community to the Air Shift Workshop on May 3, 4, & 5 during the following times:
Wednesday, May 3: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (breakfast provided)
Thursday, May 4: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (breakfast and lunch provided)
Friday, May 5: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (breakfast provided)
In a multi-day, hands-on workshop, Air Certified Facilitators help small teams learn to use collaboration skills, design thinking, and business planning to create small, locally implementable projects. Air Collaborative uses a field-tested pathway that builds innovation and economic sustainability. Air methods and processes amplify unique cultures and people to grow diverse, locally-led businesses and enterprises.
Thousands of people have attended Shift Workshops across the country, spurring the growth of creative economies wherever they occur. People who should attend include creative types: artists, musicians, sculptors, writers, dancers, museum administrators, librarians, parks and trails volunteers, craft food and beverage makers, local restaurant owners. Also, all innovators: business owners, accountants, landscape designers, marketing firms, product designers, game developers, videographers, and graphic designers. Discover new ways to think about the power of creativity and challenge your mental models about art, business, community and money. Take the mystery out of business planning. Strengthen your creative muscles and entrepreneurial mindset. Practice design thinking and prototyping and design an implementable project in just a few days!
Because this workshop takes place over three work days, we have a limited number of $250 stipends available to help those who can’t afford to attend otherwise. This is part of an effort to make the workshop economically diverse.
The Workshop uses Air Collaborative’s Creative Economy Growth Process that inspires community resilience, local investment, diverse economies, and hope. Air Collaborative is a national creativity-focused economic development nonprofit that provides rural and under-resourced communities with programming that inspires new connections and ignites the creative economy. Creative people expand business skills, businesspeople get more creative; they learn to collaborate, adapt, and thrive together. Learn more at https://www.aircollaborative.org.
With support from the Ohio Arts Council, Stuart’s Opera House is leading Air work in Athens County and is presenting the Shift Workshop. Other partners include Nelsonville Rotary and Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce with support from Nelsonville Public Library. Additionally, we’d like to thank our sponsors, including Athens County Foundation, Nelsonville Community Foundation Fund (a geographic affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio), and Athens County Visitors Bureau. Let’s build our creative economy together!
